There are many reasons one might end up sweating at night. From climatic condition to a problem with your mind, as well as medical conditions affecting your body, there are causes which you might not be aware of which can make you break out in a bout of sweating, and you might wake up with the bed sheets wet with your own sweat. Today, we will be looking at some of the common causes of sweating in the night, and the way you can eradicate them.
One of the most common causes is the temperature. In many countries, people sweat in the night because the heat is too much for them to handle. Also, conservative clothing, and synthetic materials can generate more body heat, and as the skin is unable to bear the heat, you end up sweating. If you are suffering from a condition due to the temperature, then one of the best things you can do is to make some changes in your sleeping attire. Clothes that is loose, comfortable, and made of natural fibres like cotton is a great alternative to using polyester blend or synthetic fibres which do not allow the skin to breathe. Often enough you would find that a change in sleeping attire stops excessive sweating.
Another reason why you might sweat at night is because of some latent tension you might have inside you. A lot of people keep their minds focussed and controlled, and try to control their tension severely during the day. However, in the night, when the body is relaxed along with the mind, these tensions are allowed to freely flow through the unconscious and subconscious, and you might end up sweating. To prevent this, you would have to talk to a psychiatrist who might be able to help you by counselling and help you get over your problems by giving you mild relaxants.
You would also sweat if your heart beat is too high and your body is suffering from some kind of shock. A lot of times, nightmares break people out in sweat, as your body is very affected by a bad dream. You might suddenly wake up in the middle of the night, bathed in sweat, and realize that you were having a nightmare. If you are suffering from prolonged bouts of recurring nightmares, speaking to a psychiatrist or a counsellor will definitely help you get over your problem.
Sweating at night can happen due to a cause called sleep hyperhidrosis, which might or might not be harmful. Sometimes, this is caused due to genetic reasons, and sometimes, it is due to a condition that the body is undergoing. For example, women over 40 often sweat a lot in the night due to the emergence of their menopause phrase when their bodies stop producing eggs. Here, a good gynaecologist can help you get over the stress your body feels and give you something to relax with. Also, you can check out with a doctor if your problem is hereditary or if you are suffering from a heart condition that can make you sweat a lot.
